Why new Stylos matter

Pasture legumes continue to be one of the most reliable ways to lift pasture performance in grass-dominant systems. By improving feed quality and increasing protein availability, legumes support consistent liveweight gain while contributing nitrogen back into the soil. Over time, that means healthier pastures and less reliance on synthetic inputs.

A collaboration between Meat & Livestock Australia, the Queensland Department of Primary Industries, and Selected Seeds is focused on delivering these benefits through five new Stylo varieties developed specifically for Australian grazing environments. The aim is straightforward: to provide graziers with legumes that establish reliably, persist under grazing pressure and deliver practical production benefits.

These new Stylos offer improved persistence under challenging conditions and are adapted to a wide range of enviroments, including frost-prone regions. Designed for long-term pasture productivity, they provide producers with a more reliable and sustainable legume option across diverse grazing systems.
