Finecut Rhodes Grass

Finecut Rhodes Grass is a new cultivar bred primarily for improved grazing and hay production.  Based on flowering records and field assessments (leafiness, stem diameter, disease resistance, productivity). Finecut Rhodes Grass was bred from Katambora types.

Ideal for Hay

Finecut Rhodes Grass is a leafy, extremely fine stemmed, early flowering diploid cultivar with improved dry matter production. It is a summer growing grass which spreads rapidly to form a dense mat, giving quick ground cover on bare soil. The creeping habit helps bind bare soil together and combat soil erosion. Finecut is adaptable to a wide range of soils from light sandy soils to heavy texture soils. This wide adaption and ability to tolerate salty conditions makes Finecut the ideal choice for varied conditions.

Why select Finecut?

  • Finecut Rhodes Grass produces a greater body of fine leafy feed
  • Finecut Rhodes Grass produces up to 23% more dry matter than commercial Katambora types
  • High salt tolerance
  • Uniform maturity making Finecut ideal for hay production
  • Consistent quality traits through quality seed maintained by Selected Seeds seed production process

Average rainfall requirements

  • 600-1200mm

Planting Finecut Rhodes Grass

For best establishment results Reclaimer Rhodes should be planted at 5 kilograms per Hectare of bare seed or 10-15 kilograms per Hectare of Bettaflow treated seed into a fine firm seed bed within the top 1 centimetre of the soil surface
