Medway Bluegrass

Bothriochloa pertusa

This recently released variety of Indian bluegrass is a drought tolerant perennial,valuable for forage or soil conservation.

Medway was selected by Queensland Department of Primary Industries on the basis of leafiness, flowering time and robustness. It is suited to many soil types including poor soils in areas with an average rainfall of 600- 900mm.

Medium late to flower - some 6 weeks earlier than cv Keppel
Widely adapted to a range of soil types from low to moderately fertile
Forms dense mat even on hard setting soils, providing good ground cover for soil conservation
Attractive to cattle.
